Antelope 97

I have been reading through Wyoming?s website and I am trying to figure out which Antelope unit that my brother and I should apply for.

We have 2 points and I am leaning towards putting in for Unit 97. Based on last year we should draw and Harvest rates are over 90%. There appears to be little public (blm or forest) except for the walk-in and wildlife management areas. Do I need to do anything other than have a tag to access these areas and do they hold #s of antelopes.

I am a southern Utah resident and my brother just found out he will be in South Dakota for the summer. He finishes up working on Sept 29th so we would likely hunt for up to a week before he heads East. We both hike a lot and I have no problem packing an antelope or two 5 miles if I have to.

Goal is to get him a buck first then me. Neither of us have hunted Wyoming or Antelope. I can draw a doe in Utah but will put it off another year if we do this trip.

I believe that area has a lot of Bureau of Reclamation land. You might check some online maps or contact the state.

Found a different map that shows the BoR land and it looks like it may be our best option with public access to draw with 2 points.

Believe the tag covers unit 117 as well.

IMHO there are better units that those two that you can draw with your two PPs and one I know of if you look a little harder that you can easily draw with 0 PPs as a second choice and save your PPs for another year and has over 15,000 acres of WIHA enrolled land that also opens up more inaccessible BLM lands.

I agree with TOPGUN...117 is almost entirely reservation or private land and doesn't leave you a ton of options in 97. There are a lot of other good units to draw with those points.
