Antelope Hunts

I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to share some information on a Wyoming antelope hunt for my son and I. I have 8 points and I am looking to split those with my son who has 0 points. This is his last year as a youth hunter and I'd like to burn those points this year with him. We wouldn't be looking for trophy class animals, more so would just like a good hunt with an opportunity to fill the tags on public lands. Anyone have any suggestions on a unit we could draw using my points that would give us that kind of hunt?

I would look in to unit 69. You should be able to draw with 4 points a piece. It's a small unit but is about 80% public land. I would think you could both fill your tags in that unit.

You can look at the units with public land that took 3 points in 2017. That should hopefully give you an idea of what you can draw.

Two units to check out on toprut.com would be 69 or 73. Either should be good for your hunt. Last time I hunted 73 in western part there lots of BLM Lands & easy access & lots of antelope too. Huge area too ! If you go for that one, I can help & would be glad to assist with info on where I hunted & what I saw. Been a long time since I hunted 69. Lots of antelope there too & close to Casper, but more hunters too at first of season. Either one will get good & fun too. After 10/1 weather gets more iffy & windy too & could get snow & cold too-- a roll of the dice with weather that time of year. Anywhere in Wyoming ! Have fun & good hunting !

I would consider applying for a hail-Mary spot in the central part of the state that you MIGHT draw with your 4 points each, but putting a 2nd choice tag in the NE part of the state. Most of those places have limited road accessible public land, but we went 12 for 12 including family and friends on bucks in 2 units with almost no road accessible public land over the course of 5 years recently. You just have to walk a few miles and suddenly there are no hunters and quite a few antelope to look at.

Thanks again everyone! And sure nice of you to offer Jerry. We got put in last night. Cant thank everyone on here enough for the information. We are going into the draw with what looks like (and hopefully) 100% odds. Thanks again!
