Looking to use my points. I have a buddy who suggested unit 6 and said it would be a good and fun hunt looks like I can draw it as last year it took 5.5.... Might do some bow hunting...yet have not pulled back my bow in about four years and might hear a giant pop in my shoulder if if do ( I wouldn't suggest getting older to anytone ;)) but mostly will be looking at as a rifle hunt. Likely I would be looking at mobile truck camping and day hikes of up to five miles... I am 58 now and still in good shape but not 30 anymore. I will have the whole rifle season to use and live in Denver...

My biggest Bull ever was about 330 and would like the have the possibility to have a chance at something better than that.... but knowing if it ain't happening a much better chance at a 300 ish bull...

Any thoughts are appreciated!!!!

If you want to go unguided I'd look at 45. 330 is a long shot to top but you'd have a quality hunt with no bear to deal with.

It might take another year or 2 to draw though.

Won't be able to draw 16 with 9 points. Either Type 1 or 2. Will take at least 11+ and maybe Max this year.

45 will also be tough to draw. 38, 35, and some of the other Bighorns are possible. 11 is possible. 6, 19, 23 are other good options but you probably need some private options.

If you take a look at the Big Horns, unit 38 is a great unit and the Type 1 rifle tag could be drawn with your 9 PPs. You can't hunt the early archery season on that tag though and it takes close to max PPs to draw the Type 9 September archery tag. If I had 9 PPs, I wouldn't hesitate to use them for a 38-1 tag.

>but be curious does it

>their points???

Yes, if you bought a PP last year you would have 9 showing on your account for the draw coming up next month. However, those odds you're looking at were for 2018 when you only had 8 PPs just like Bob stated. I'm not aware of any lists showing actual people's names with a PP total.

Okay I see what he was getting at now thanks ....think I'm going to wait...blew my AZ points on TERRIBLE advice...and not feeling confident enough now to pull the trigger

Waiting isn't going to do you any good. Put in for the draw for 38-1 in the Big Horns and go hunting this October. It's a great unit and even if you don't tag a monster just the scenery is worth 9 PPS and no bear worries like the western units!

>Points and unit in AZ?

Try to make a long story short for about 12 years I was a tactical Police Instructor overseas Iraq...Pakistan...etc. I never knew how my contract were going to go and make doing draws hard to calculate. I had about 8 AZ points and you can draw with zero point your odds just go up with more points kinda...I knew a guy a AZ guru...and asked him a pie in the sky AZ RIFLE draw that would make it worth it for me to come back and lose the ample $$$$$ when in country...he said ANY 9-10 tag...drew a late rifle tag drew and soon found out it is a ##### tag even with a guide ( I know some might think different for whatever reason but don't really want to discuss it just makes me mad again...)..he said OHHH I thought you meant bow..... in his defense the word BOW and RIFLE are similar in so many ways and being so careless with a guys dreams quite understandable grrrrrrrrr... I tried to contact the Director of GF and said I will donate the tag to a kid a wounded warrior anything I just want my hard earned points back and the response ohhhhhh we could never do such a thing and basically they started letting you turn tags in the next year...anyways that hurt,,,not chance for AZ elk or sheep...did'nt come back did'nt use the tag...

So that is bitter water under the bridge...

Topgun I hear you...if I wait it won't because I think I'm going to get better with one more point but haven't figured out the best that fits what I'm (hopefully) looking for...

You right about the stunning country of the west...there is no place on the face of the earth like the American west....no place

Always APPLY in Wyoming as the random draw odds are often not that "bad"......for instance TOPGUN's 38-1 had 2.5% odds to draw with or without points.
