Cow Elk

I read these forums alot but really never post and I am hoping to get some advice on whether we are researching the right areas or not. My son and myself will be mule deer hunting in the southeast part of the state until about the 18th of November. I bought him a combo tag hoping afterwords he could get an opportunity at a cow or preferrably a calf since it will have to come out on our backs. I have been researching the Judith Mountains, knowing that access is somewhat limited or move more westward to White Sulpher Springs and hunt the Lewis an Clark nf. I know weather may hamper us, I have the maps, onx chip so Im pretty comfortable knowing where I am at. My plan was to skirt the edges hoping to find elk that may be moving from bedding to feeding. We would really appreciate any suggestions anyone may have. Thanks Much.
