Just getting the news that me, my brother and dad will be heading back to montana this coming november ,due to the under applied big game combo. I under stand Eastern Montana got hit pretty hard this winter ,anybody know how the deer are doing in the brakes north of Winnet or Lewistown.

I'm not sure of the breaks but I know on the Highline from Shelby to Glascow they got hammered.

Look at Nemont's post titled "best place to antelope hunt". Some pretty graphic picture's.
How do you know the license's were under subscribed? I did not get drawn for a deer combo last year.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-24-11 AT 08:19AM (MST)[p]I just read about some deer counts in the Thompsom Falls area. Fawn mortality is 38 percent. Doesn't bode well for the East side of the state as winter was a real killer over there. I'm bettin some fairly large quota changes are ahead. mtmuley

Lots of winter kill for the MD and WT on the eastern front,I picked up 3 young muledeer buck heads today on a 2 hour walk.

Found 9 dead MD in different states of decay on the front yesterday, some may be lion kills.

I'm flying home from Montana today after a week here. I was in unit 481 and it was crazy how few antelope I seen. Compared to a couple years ago I bet I saw 1/3 the numbers of antelope.

Found several muley "yearlings" way up high today,im thinking they were predator kills but killed non the less.
