just curious how many others on here have drawn special tags, species, and how long it took.

Still waiting and building points Moose, Goat, sheep, Deer, and Elk. I think I may get an Elk tag this year but have considered just going to the Elkhorns for the next several years.

I do draw antelope periodically and drew last year so not planning on another one for 3-4 years.

I have drawn a couple antelope permits. Put in for moose, sheep, and goat every year. Can always dream about drawing one of those. Then I have 3 points for deer and 7 points for elk. I have been putting in for a rifle tag in the breaks. Bad draw odds for anyone let alone a non res. Some day i might draw. I see some nice bulls every year while deer hunting.

First year putting in for goats I drew. Sat out my 7 years and then drew again with zero pts.

Now I know I will never draw moose or sheep.

I have mostly been putting in for 410. But might look at some other units that have a little better odds.

This will be my 30th year applying for goat, sheep, and moose in Montana.

I drew a goat tag after applying for 18 years. I drew a moose after applying for 15 years. Never have drawn a ram permit in Montana.

My brother drew a goat tag the first year he applied and drew a moose permit after applying for about 10 years.

My Dad has drawn 2 moose permits in about 15 years of applying and a ram permit after applying for what seems like forever.

We cant complain, 4 moose tags, 2 goat tags, and a sheep tag in 30 years between the 3 of us.

Antelope nearly every year. I've drawn a sought after mule deer tag and a Breaks bull tag. Still lokkin for moose and sheep. Never apply for goat. mtmuley

I've done OK on elk, over the last 15 years I've drawn a Gardiner late bull tag (before the wolves) a 410 bull tag and
in 2006 the elk supertag.......still waiting for my sheep tag!

Yeah thats only "OK"... Sounds like you did great! I as well am interested to hear about the super tag hunt results. Always hear about Utah but not too much about MT.

I have not drawn a special permit yet. I wish I had some sense in applying when I started hunting the state. Good luck to all.

Been applying for eleven years for almost everything, and haven't drawn anything besides an alright deer tag a few times.

I got a pretty good 6X6 with the Supertag, I actually came to MT three times, Sept with a bow, November and then January. If you want more details I certainly could send you a PM.

Jdan9,

I think you are way lucky and those are not just "ok" tags. I would die if I got a 410 tag let alone a supertag for anything. And if I got the supertag for elk I would have spent my time in 380.

I know, luckier than I deserve that's for sure. I did spend quite a bit of time in 380, in fact the biggest bull I ran into was there. All I needed him to do was turn broadside and I would have had a shot at 25 yards........but he didn't!!

Well i guess i will spoil every ones fun and tell you my luck over the years. When i was 16 i shot my first mountain goat in MT after 4 years of applying. When i was 18 I drew a Sheep tag for MT also and shot one that ended up being top 200 in the world and also known to be the second widest sheep in the world. he scored 190 4/8 and lives happily life-sized in my living room now. Then when i was 21 i drew a Gardiner bull tag the last year they gave out permits and killed a 344 bull on my third day of the hunt. Now all i need is a stinking Moose permit.

Drew a cow moose tag when I was 14 and got her the first hour of my hunt. Drew a breaks elk permit in 2006 and got my first bull, a decent 6x6. Drew a decent Mule deer permit in 2008 and shot a respectible 4x4. Lucked out with a bull moose tag in 331 last year and got him close to the road! I have 7 points for sheep, 6 for Mnt Goat this year and have been getting to know a good unlimited deer permit area as a second choice unit until I draw my first choice. I drew number 26 Nonresident in the Wyoming bison hunt this year out of 800 some that applied, too bad they are only issuing 24 tags. I also drew a nonresident coues deer tag in the burro mountains but unfortunately couldnt make the hunt at the last minute.
