I was in the breaks in May and the bulls I seen had a pretty good start on their antler growth. Just wondering how the antler growth has finished or is finishing up? average or above average? I hope Lots of rain and plenty of food helped.

I had an old friend that spent his 90 something years in the North side River breaks. He always said. "during the years the Sweet Clover flourished critters grew big antlers".
So, anybody know if it's a Sweet Clover year?

The Sweet clover is all over this year. It is going to very thick and noisy when it dries out. The Sweet Clover looks like it has been irrigated this year, I guess 22 inches of moisture will make things grow in this country.

Thanks Jeff, that's good news for people that like antlers.
Sweetclover needs good late Summer and early Fall moisture.
It germinates at that time and will get a few inches tall by Winter. Good protein source. Then snow cover otherwise the small plants Winterkill.
With good Spring moisture Sweetclover gets green and growing before most native plants. Elk and Deer have a early and steady protein source though out antler growth.
