Trout Creek Elk

I was just over scouting a place in trout creek,did not see any elk but the area is beautiful. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on where to try in the area?We are gonna do a quick 4 day hunt and was hoping someone that has hunted there before could give us an idea. Thanks--------------would you hunt early"opener"
or later in Sept?

What up bud? Dumb question - where is (your) trout creek? There's a couple different ones.... Make sure you stick one early - then head east! Hope it works out for you.

The town of Trout Creek----just north of Thompson Falls.
Ed,we don't have much time to get it done but we love chasing elk so you never know. Jerry

Found it. Never made it up that way. If you don't get any input from the guys here and you're not 100% set on this area, let me know - I can give you some info on two places that you can have some fum in - but it's about 3 more hours for you to get to.
Hopefully some of the MT guys here can give you some tips.

I prefer to hunt the Vermillon river area just east of TC. It is more openthan the west side of the valley with a larger elk herd, imo. Anywhere along theThompson River holds lots of elk too. Sounds like a great time to me! Good luck.

I hunt usually on the Idaho side and we have had some good luck but this year we got Montana tags and are headed to the MT side. If you havent hunted yet I have some good areas that we will be in this Friday. If you have already hunted how did you do?
