I currently have one point for deer. Just wondering what you guys think the chance of drawing might be. I have to apply this year or lose my point.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-26-11 AT 04:35PM (MST)[p]Depends on what your applying for.Didnt they propose a change for this next year so you can just buy a point?

I'd say your odds are 100percent if it was like this year. I called Helena on the 28th of October and because so many guys had turned their tags back or whatever a non resident could just fork out the $540 or so and buy one. I don't know about loosing your pt if you don't put in, but if you want a tag next year, you are gonna get one almost for sure.

Retaining Preference Points

When you are successful in obtaining a nonresident combination license, your preference points are zeroed out. To retain your preference points, you must apply for the license at least every other year. Failure to apply for the license for two consecutive years zeroes out your preference points.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-27-11 AT 09:04PM (MST)[p]Virgil, I was assuming you have a point from 2010, and you did not put in last year......and are afraid if you don't put in again that you will loose it????

U got a point last fall so U have to apply by 2013 that the way i read it.

The new point system allows you to buy 1 $50 bonus point.
75% of the draw will go to those that purchase the point.
25% go to those that choose not to buy the point.
Don't know what benefit the old point will give you?
