If non-res can have max of 10%, if a unit has 25 tags, do they always round down?

No,they issue a .5 tag,if you accumulate 2 of those you can hunt...the rule states that non res can draw UP TO 10% of the allotted tags,if they rounded up that would be MORE THAN 10%,so they round down.

Tough crowd..i was unsure of montanna's regs and didn't realize that was such a stupid question...

Exactly. The rule is self explanatory,Im sorry you cant figure out that 3 tags out of 25 would be MORE THAN 10%,how can they round up if that would put the NR tag over 10%,retake 4th grade math and try again.

MTSHEDHEDZ...I hope we meet on the trail some day!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-01-12 AT 07:10PM (MST)[p]Considering that other states such as wyoming round up even if quota is exceeded by a tag or two, it was a perfectly valid question. Montana does round down though.

MTSHEDZ i wish your trailer park would lose its internet.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-04-12 AT 06:16PM (MST)[p]How are you going to prove that?Trout if you want to "meet" it can be arranged, let me know when you coming to MT,pm me,if not stfu and get over the internet tough guy threats and get back to the math lessons.

I assume the orginal question was meant for deer and elk? was not mentioned to specie unless I missed it. Valid question though. Just thinking, there are circumstances that a NR has a chance to draw with less than 10 permits in a desired unit. Looking at the goat for example that NR are able to apply for this year. 447 Square Butte giving 2 total goat permits, Along with 320 Tobacco Root giving 3 total permits, the Bridgers 393 giving 5 total permits, unless those numbers change when the final quota's are finalized.

This statement in the regs though talking about the region of areas:

Nonresidents are limited to, but not
guaranteed 10 percent of a region?s
quota. Districts where nonresidents
may apply are listed on the moose,
bighorn sheep, mountain goat
nonresident application, but may
change when final quotas are set in
June.

Thats exactly right...its 10 percent of the REGIONS quota...not the individual units.

Oh and heres "proof" for the village idiot...Try telling my AK buddy there has to be at least 10 tags offered before a NR draws. Where do you come up with the crap you post?

An 11.5 year old ram I glassed up for a NR friend from AK that drew one of the 5 tags offered in Petty Creek that year. Pretty cool watching him struggle with shooting that one or his 13.5 year old broomed buddy. The broomed ram was killed the following year at the ripe old age of 14.5 years.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-05-12 AT 07:17AM (MST)[p]MTSHEDHEDZ just got clowned.

What is so funny about it is if he would have just looked at the other thread "NR Moose, Sheep and Goat apps" there is a link to the NR app with a list of HD's that NR's can apply for and he could have seen the HD's with less then 10 permits that NR's are able to apply for. There was our hero's "proof" but instead MTSHEDZ stuck his foot in his mouth,,,laffin!

Talk about a "math lesson"!

With odds like that he should have held out for a better ram...

What's that old Mark Twain saying..."It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and leave no doubt."

Yep, that fits.

MTSHEDZ,

You're really showing your ignorance on evaluating trophy rams...seriously.

That was the best Ram killed in that unit in 2005...over 40 inches on both horns, 11.5 years old, and net scored 179 5/8 officially, gross scored 180 4/8.

That ram, right there, is the holy grail of bighorn sheep...on all counts...age, horn length, and score.

If I had that same tag...I'd shoot that ram all-day long.

Hold out for a "better ram"...what a fuggin' tool, you wouldnt know a trophy ram if you saw one...and thats a fact.

Yours truly with the same ram:

Oh, and that tag was easy for my buddy to draw...considering his odds of drawing the Idaho Governors Raffle sheep tag a few years later. He bought $100 worth of tickets.

I suppose you're going to say he should have again held out for a better ram???

Nice rams, really nice. I need some of your buddys luck Buzz. The squared bonus points are a step forward, but not a cure for us natives that have put in for years. What I'd give for a Breaks sheep tag. mtmuley

Some guys have all the luck dont they... Im hoping my fathers luck gets passed my way soon, hes drawn both the breaks sheep tag and square butte goat tag in the last 5 years. Guess I was lucky enough to be able to expirience the hunt being his packer.
