Draw results?

BG combo and Elk combo were 100% draw Deer combo was less than 100%. according to a buddy at F&G

It doesnt effect me but I had some buddies put in for the deer combo.

They must be busy engraving my name on the tag they were supposed to give me for the last NINE years...

My bone is no stranger to
great envy!

Looks like the bonus points are being updated...mine went up, so I didn't draw this year.

mine haven't changed yet either, hopefully that is a good sign and means I'm still in the running?

Mine are still 0 so I am hoping. My sister-in-law went to 0 from 5, so I am hoping we both drew!!

my le bonus points went up 1 , deer combo remained at 0, looks like i drew a general deer tag. hopefully will turn it back in after i draw nevada 231.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-18-12 AT 01:36PM (MST)[p]Mine is the same. I am assuming that it is because I applied for the Big Game Combo (deer/elk) and applied for permits but was unsuccessful in the permit drawings. I elected to have my elk tag refunded if I didn't draw the elk permit so I am assuming that maybe they show the Big Game Combo as unsuccessful because I am electing to return the elk tag and they are issuing the deer only license in some other way???? Not sure just guessing. I was probably stupid for paying the preference point fee too and when I check those points it shows 0 so I am thinking I drew the combo and they took my preference point.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-18-12 AT 02:12PM (MST)[p]>I am NOT successful with the
>NR Big Game Combo.
>So what do you suppose is
>up with that?

Same thing unsuccessful NR Big Game Combo???

LAST EDITED ON Apr-18-12 AT 02:41PM (MST)[p]If you applied for the big game combo and opted to turn in the elk portion if unsuccessful drawing an LE elk tag and just take the deer combo it will show unsuccessful drawing the big game combo. The results haven't been updated with the successful deer portion....I hope that makes sense!! Confirmed by F&G

LAST EDITED ON Apr-18-12 AT 04:09PM (MST)[p]Drew the deer elk combo. I also drew the 410-15 elk permit. We just bought a house so I might have to turn in the deer tag or the elk tag. No money for two trips. ( i dont even know if I can give one back )

No love for me on any of the permit hunts. But I drew the combo and will keep my elk tag. Goodluck to the rest of you guys.

Son and I drew 411-15 elk archery cluster districts. and I also drew 652-50 deer (4th time).

I got the 798-20 tag. Pretty stoked about it.

Hey wapitty.....you ever have much luck with the 652-50 tag? I figure you must beings you keep putting in for it. My buddy had it two years ago and he wished he didn't draw at all.

Any kill photos you would like to share?

"That's a special feeling, Lloyd"

I drew elkhorns!!!!!!! Anybody point me in the right direction?, haven't been up there too much.

No luck on my LE elk tag so I have an updated point but mine too shows unsucessfull on the combo tags and my bonus points still reads zero after putting in for a point in the drawing, still hoping for a Deer tag guess I will have to wait and see!

stu,

652-50 is a blast to hunt. have shot two mid 170's. what keeps me putting in is what I have seen in the past and just could not get to them. one buck was a solid high 180 low 190, that was few years back and things have changed alot but you never know what can happen. like I said just a fun area with a chance at seeing something. saw a great whitetail buck in there two years ago. the area has a few whitey bucks that go unlooked, can hunt them with gen. tag. most people don't have the patience for the whiteys, though.

Both my brothers (NR) drew general deer tags.
My father and I (residents) no special units this year
My mother also resident, drew 798-20 elk. She drew the same tag acouple years ago and drew again.

Just checked the draw status.

Now it shows Successful with the general Deer. :)

Guess that's how they do it when you return the elk part of the combo.
Sounds to me like LOT of us are doing that.Elk hunting in the general areas in the West will NEVER be the same, too bad. :(

Do these tags count against the Deer Combo for NR's? or do they still count against the big game combo quota? Reason I ask is my buddy didnt draw his deer tag.... I am gathering that he could have put in for the combo with 380 for example as his elk preference and been able to turn in the elk tag and only pay for deer? Hmmmm.
Let me know if I am following this right... I think I am, but want to make sure.

Thanks

Another elk point for me as well. Now have 6 and those are EXPENSIVE points!

Good luck to those who drew!

GK

Well I drew my tough landowner deer tag and I'm happy. Congrats to all that got the tag of their dreams and there is always next year for the rest of you!

Most NR's will be trained now to apply for the big game combo. With the hard to draw elk permits, then getting a refund on the elk part. Your assured of getting the deer tag where as the deer combo being what 3000, will likely always sell out.
I didn't apply for a bonus point for the BGC but did for the special elk. No doubt if you did buy the point and retained the deer part of the combo you lost your point, waste of money anyway.:)

I draw combo return the elk did not get the LE tag still have my Non-Resident Big Game Combo bonus point. And have deer combo tag. What do think is up with that point for next year?

I feel very fortunate in being drawn for the 2012 deer combo, especially since this is the first year I've tried. My son and I will be headed to Montana in October and will be hunting on a family owned ranch in the southeastern part of the state, east of Baker. If anybody knows about the area and can give me some pointers on what to expect in terms of weather, hunting conditions, and the best kind of terrain to hunt for muleys or whitetails, pheasant and grouse, I would be most appreciative.

Txn,

Have a good time on your hunt. I have not been in the Baker area for a few years now, so I am not sure how the deer herds are doing. If you have a ranch to hunt on that is a huge help. Usually the whitetais will be low in the creek bottoms and muleys a little higher up. If the ranch has alfalfa or other fields the deer will probably be coming into those areas in the evening. The terrain is basically flat with small hills and draws. As for the weather you could be in short sleeves or you could be in a blizzard. The weather can and will change very quickly, be prepared for either scenario.

You guys are fortunate, in the draw and having private property to hunt, congrats! There's some good deer county East of Baker to the Little Missouri River Breaks, good badland type stuff. Baker is oil country too, lots of stuff going on.

Thanks for the info guys. I have cousins who live in Montana, one in Glendive, his daughter lives on the ranch I'll be hunting outside of Baker, and other cousins living in Kalispell. When I found out that I had access to a 5000 acre ranch I knew that I at least had to apply for a license for me and my son. I was pleasantly surprised when we got drawn. I've hunted in Colorado a couple times and taken a muley, but never in Montana. My son has never hunted outside outside of Texas other than for small whitetails when we lived in Florida. We're both really excited about making the trip, visiting with family, and getting to hunt in the beautiful state of Montana.
