How many points does it take to have maximum points in MT? Just curious as to how far behind "The Game" I am.
Thanks,
Yak.

Wow, has it been that long already? I just checked my points and delmag1942 is correct; 12 it is. It doesn't seem that long ago that Montana first implemented the point system for moose, sheep, and goat...

I saw on another post that Cabuck drew a mountain goat tag with max points so maybe now that they are squaring them they are finally starting to pay off!

WOW! I was thinking 7 or 8! It has been a while. Thanks Guy's.

With the demand in MT, I'm not thinking points can ever be counted on to pay off for nonresidents. You are going to have to get lucky at any point level, even when you are max points and 90 years old. But anyone at any point total can get lucky.

ElmerFudd,

I can't say I disagree with you. These bonus/ preference point systems for high demand tags seems to be a fool's game - and I know as I have been sucked into many of them in the various western states.

With that being said, I have been fortunate enough over the years to draw a good tag here and there because of my accumulated points, and I would much rather have 145 chances in the MT lottery than just getting in on the ground floor!

But as you indicate, under the current MT point system, a NR may still never draw a moose/sheep/goat in his or her lifetime even with max points. It still comes down to the luck of the draw...
