Hello fellow Muley hunters. We're heading out to Mt Oct 25th for a week on our first Montana Muley experience. We've been doing a fair amount of research and reading online. Looked at lots of different maps and google earth. Reserved several Type II Bma properties. We're not quite sure what to expect on these bma's. I've read a few dated posts on the site talking about issues with outfitters as you get close to the boundaries. Looking at some of the google earth maps it seems like the landscape on a couple of the bma's is fairly barren.

I think we're going to concentrate on the bma's east of powder villa. Does anyone have any experience or general comments on hunting this area? We plan on walking a lot and getting away from the roads to avoid high pressure areas.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Don't plan Powderville having accommodations. :)
Broadus and Ekalaka are about it.
That is a nice area, good Mulie country. You wanna walk and work at it, pack meat a couple miles your going to do well. Tons of road hunters and deer get wise to it.

Just fill your truck full of gas in broadus. Get a good map and a gps that shows blm, state, and nf. Hit as many as you can with your boots and good glass.

"That's a special feeling, Lloyd"

Ha yeah we're bringing out an enclosed trailer and will either stay in that or in an army tent if it isn't too cold. A couple of the Bma landowners were nice enough to tell us we could pitch a tent on their property. I kind of figured there might be a little road hunting going on. Seems like there's lazy hunters no matter where u hunt.

Have u hunted that area in the past?

Glad to know we're on the right track.

I've spent a lot of time in the Broadus, Powder River Country. It's Muley country. Lots of rolling sage and rangeland. Lots of bluffs, Buttes and Badlands to. Pine Breaks are plentiful.
Yup, Have your maps, National Forests and the BLM you can camp,. Probably are fire restrictions.
Only way to do it is bring your lodging with you.
Never leave a town without a full tank of fuel, extra cans are a good idea. Lots of Water and beverage. :)

Good Times!
Ill be in MT deer opener like always.
