So I am thinking about expanding my hunting a bit. I am a life long hunter in Colorado. I hunt both archery and Rifle. Recently I have managed a couple deer hunts in WY and will probably have a good antelope hunt coming up here soon in WY. I am interested in expanding 1 more state. I am near to drawing quality tags in both WY and Colorado for both deer and elk, but after I draw this round I am done with the really hard to draw units. (I will have close to 20 years into my elk tag and 10 into my deer tag).

I am looking for a quality hunt. Not so much trophy size, but the ability to hunt remote places where I can walk 3-8 miles a day with little chance of seeing anyone else. In Colorado and WY I have became accustomed to hunting really low quality (dessert areas) areas hard and have killed some great animals.

What does it take to get tags in MT? How hard is it for a NR? Can a person go with just a deer tag or just an elk tag? Or do I have to get the combo tag? What are the season lengths/dates? Can I buy an archery tag separate or do I need to choose archery or rifle? What units have some qualities I am looking for? I do not want someplace where I will be camped next to everyone else and have to race the other hunters to the top of the mountain...

I do want areas where I can hunt hard and kill a 140ish+ buck and a good chance at an elk in the upper 200s...

thanks for the help. If anyone wants info on CO let me know...

What about Pryor Mountain Area? Looks remote and removed from town. Also it is not right near the Park and larger towns... Never mind I see Pryor area is just outside of Bozeman... I loved the look of the country...
