Air Gun for grouse

No idea. But I use my Marlin 60 .22 for mountain grouse all the time. My dad used to say it wasn't sporting. Off-hand shots to the head of a big blue at 50 yards are pretty sporting in my opinion. I don't think an airgun is against the rules. mtmuley

I did find this,

"For small populations of ground squirrels shooting may also be an option. It is illegal and unsafe to discharge firearms within many cities, but it may be legal if done with air rifles or pellet guns. Check your local ordinances and decide if it would be not only legal but safe within your area. Shooting is time-consuming and squirrels quickly become gun-shy."

But nothing specifically on grouse.

Read the upland game bird regs they are pretty clear about what you can use.

"Blue, Ruffed and Franklin's Grouse maybe taken with a shotgun not larger than 10 gauge: a long, recurve or compound bow and arrow; a rifle; or a handgun. All other means of taking are prohibited."

Is that what you're talking about? I was thinking of packing a air "handgun" with me........

MNM, I cant wait, 14 day solo archery elk trip, with some fishing and upland bird hunting in between. You watch, Ill be the only guy not to get a big game combo license :p

Take some judo points. Of course I miss more than I hit, but it doesn't require carrying anything extra in your pack.

That can get a little expensive considering the cost of arrows. My thinking now has changed from an air pistol to 22 cb quiet loads, have to do some comparisons see which one has the loudest report, something barely audible at 50 yards would be ideal. I tried a wrist rocket, darn 36 cal lead balls bounced right off lol .

Buckshot, If You don't happen to draw get on the alternates list right away.
Back when the BGC was a hard draw I got it on the alternates list a few times. There will be several hundred licenses turned in.
I very much doubt the BGC are a sell out though.

Thats my plan MNM, if that doesnt work, I might head over to Idaho and hunt the selway for the last 10 days of A tag season. Im not looking forward to having to pack an elk out of there if I connect, last couple of times it was brutal and I was 7 years younger.
