I have been checking my bonus pts the last few days for Elk and Deer, and they both went up by one today.

Goodluck to the rest of you guys.

Mine did not for my bow elk permit. Mine son missed out on a rifle tag, but it looks like my father-in-law may have got his second rifle elk permit in 3 years!! I hope so, he is 82 and we keep thinking he is on his last trip!

Montana's new F&G web site is giving the draw results. The old style web page just says status pending. The new site has 1st 3 letters of first name,1st 3 of last name, date of birth, and a code verification.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-24-13 AT 09:35PM (MST)[p]Beech...can I ask how many points it took to draw... you got my tag you sob(beech). :)

congrats!

My 85 yo Dad and I drew general deer. Taking my 17 yo son with on a youth over the counter tag. been going to the same place most years since 1987.

Venada, Im a resident with 5 points going into this year draw. Plans are already brewing how we'll be utilizing the tag to its full potential. Im stocked.

Bowedark, I see the banner on the MFWP Hunting page stating that the tags go on sale on May 6th, but where did you find the information on the numbers available?

I will find out. Lot of the family shoots dinks for they are just meat hunters. They also let a few other people hunt

Ever heard of Ismay? I hunt whitetails in wyoming and decided to try some muleys tthis year. My buddy and I did a party tag together. Heading up in a couple of weeks for branding and I will start getting a lay of the land.

I travel up to the ranch a lot and been around for hunting season. Hopefully I can prove something come hunting season. They got a major coyote problem. Havent seen to many monster bucks. But everyone carries guns on the ranch to wipe out those dogs

I read the book "Bad Land" Ismay MT and other towns that sprung up along the then "Chicago, Milwaukee, St Paul and Pacific RR"
Land was given out in 320 acre parcels almost all the land was taken and homesteaded. Ismay was a thriving busy town.
The land dried up and almost everybody got the heck out of there.

Anyway That area is wide open, good Muley country and cattle ranching.
Your going to have fun.

Just purchased a surplus nr deer combo tag! Anyone know how the deer population is holding up in north east Montana around the Scobey area. We were there three years ago with good success. I heard they got hit pretty hard a couple years ago.

Pretty rough I think. Hard winter die-offs coupled with disease has been a tough pill for the eastern MT deer herds. I grew up around Scobey, but don't really talk with folks in that area much any more.

Scobey and all through that area especially North of Highway 2 the deer numbers are way down. WT and MD.
Good thing though, hunter numbers are way down also, maybe some bucks getting a chance to grow up some.
