Realistic Expectations for NW Bear

I am heading up to region 1 to hunt bears. I have never been to the area. I just plan on glassing, cruising roads, and walking logging roads. I will be there for the last 6 days of May. Is it realistic to think that I will see 3 or 4 bears? Thanks for any advice.

Absolutely.

Find clearcuts, or selective cuts with good grass in them, especially in the evening.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-11-14 AT 06:53PM (MST)[p]If I hunted 6 uninterrupted days, I would expect to see 6 bears at the very minimum.

I am personally anxious to see what all the snow this year does to the spring bear hunting. One spot was just unreal a couple years ago, I would see 3-5 bears every time I walked the 1.5 miles in and back out. I saw easily 25 bears that year. Last year, barely saw any in there. Had to go back to my secret bear "pit" to kill one, where I have seen as many as 8 in one 20 acre clearcut at the same time. I was surrounded by 4 bears in there 3 years ago when I killed mine. And saw 5 the night I killed by biggun the next year.

I hope the "bear road" is good again, because it's very close to my house.

That is amazing. I was all set to go but my father in law drew a bear tag in utah. He drew the roadless Book Cliffs which is suppose to be quite the experience. He has invited me to go so I think I may have to move montana to next year. Thanks a ton for the advice, good luck on the bear road.
