Non-Resident Question

G'day guys,
One of my really good mates is from Bozeman and I'm pretty keen on coming over to visit him next fall. I definitely want to do some hunting while I'm there. I'd be happy to do any big game stuff but mule deer would be my pick.

I had some information sent from the MT Fish, Wildlife and Parks to me her in Australia and its all a little confusing.
Is there a point system or does the draw system work differently for non-residents?
I'm looking at a public land hunt and want to give myself the best chance of taking something along the lines of the pics attached.
Really though, anything I'd be able to shoot unguided I'd be caping out and putting on the wall.

Hunting whitetail would also be awesome if not a muley, a small 8pt buck would be an absolute dream to take if I could.

Any help that people could give me would be hugely appreciated.

I do guide and hunt in Australia and hunt in New Zealand and would definitely be interested in a hunt swap if anyone would be willing to lend a guy a hand!

Cheers,

Jack

I guess You'll need a gun training certificate.
Then apply by the 15th of March for the MT Non Resident Deer Combination. That will give you the state wide general deer.
You can then apply for limited draw areas. These are mostly a hard draw for NR's.
However, the general deer license will get you plenty of hunting opportunities.
With a lot of work, little luck, Muley Bucks like the ones posted are possible.
