So I am looking at hunting MT this year with my father. We struck out everywhere else and need to find a deer hunt, not sure I can make it another year with out a tag in my pocket.
That being said, what are the most common violations you see from hunters? Are there laws that are not common in other states? I will read the regs. But thought a good start would be knowing hunter Orange requirement, distance from road for legal shot, and evidence of sex requirements.
Of course I a, also looking for information on areas to hunt. I would prefer few hunters vs crowds. I would also prefer areas that have a good mix of vehicle access for my father and his bad back and areas where I can hike all day away from the roads, etc.
Also is there a list of unit not open to the combo licenses? If so how many are there...
I have looked at units arpund Dilon 331, 340 or 319. I prefer to hunt lower country here in NW Colorado and like the sage pi?on junipers etc. Can adapt but would like a unit where a person can see and move without better no stuck in dark timber for hours...
Again any help is greatly appreciated. Units to look at units to avoid... I do not put much weight into stats as they never seems trustworthy! not worried about finding the biggest deer just need space and opportunity and would prefer not tripping over other hunters.
Thanks
