Montana General Deer

Hey Montana Guys. I am looking for a little help on Eastern Montana deer. My buddy from work is looking at doing a trip with his dad. This will basically be a once in a lifetime trip for them. He is not super internet savvy, so I thought I would throw this out there for him. They are looking at coming out around Nov. 20th for deer in Eastern Montana. They have hunted a bunch, but no nothing about Montana. I've filled them in on the tag requirements and such.
They are not trophy hunting, just looking for a place to have a decent hunt, and see some bucks. I've heard the area around Glasgow and Ekalaka can be decent. Anyone have any general areas, or block management they would recommend? They are going to set aside about a week for the trip. I just want them to have a good trip. I'm not much help, as I've never hunted Montana.
Thanks
Buck

It's been years since I've been there but for 3 years in a row we hunted block management around Colestrip . never had a problem finding a nice buck but as you'd expect in MT we never saw a monster either.

I didn't see as many deer around Ekalaka but that was just a year or two after a bad blue tongue outbreak. might be better now.

I have never hunted eastern Montana, but I have a trip planned for this year. I have been doing some google earth scouting and ordered a couple maps. The regional fish and game offices can be helpful as well. My biggest suggestion so far would be logistics. There are very few places to stay out in that area so unless they are planning on camping I would decide and try to find a room rather quickly. I reserved a room in Broadus for the week we will be hunting back in February and it was the last one available for the entire month of November!

The "Area around Glasgow" is pretty expansive. Are you thinking north, south or west of Glasgow?

Also "good" is relative. If they are just wanting to look over some great country and have a chance at a buck then South of town will fit that bill just fine. Expect to have mucho company and if it rains you need to either stay put in camp or leave because it becomes nearly impassable out there.

There are many better places throughout Montana to hunt mule deer IMO but then it is up to the person as to what they want.

Where ever they hunt tell them to get off the road a mile or so ,even less and they will see bucks. Most of the locals road hunt and shoot what ever. Get in a little and they push em to ya. That was in SE. Mont. the 3 times I have hunted it.........BULL!
