Looking for a Montana resident interested in point sharing on the 2018 elk draw applying as a party. If you have max elk points but are not sure where to put in for next years draw let's talk.

I have the maps, access, camping, water, restrictions and elk patterns all figured out. If you have mobility issues this area has a few accessible saddles the bulls consistently use. I run cameras in the unit year round.

Central Montana unit with moderate terrain, decent draw odds and great bull ratios. Solid opportunity at 300-360 class bulls for those that can spend the time and hunt hard. Photos provided.

I hunt solo but happy to share camp and pack chores.

PM if interested.

Since the points are averaged, a party application would probably lower the odds of anyone that applies with you. With year round cameras, aren't they illegal during an open hunting season? mtmuley

Yes it will lower the odds. Like you stated, points are averaged. If I entered with a group of four it really doesnt hurt the odds that bad.

This unit has odds that are much better then the premium units. Even averaging they would have a way better chance to draw this tag versus putting in for unit 380 like so many do.

Camera rules changed last year.

Personally, I think the party app for LE tags in Montana needs to go. As far as bonus points, they really aren't as helpful as a preference system, so lowering my odds with other applicants doesn't make sense. At least to me. Bet you got a big bull scouted huh? mtmuley

I agree. I dont make the rules - just play by them. I have an incredible hunt dialed in - just trying to do it again legally.

Bonus points are like buttholes, everybody has em. What I bring to the table is hard earned and a fairly rare oppurtunity considering it is FREE.

I have multiply big bulls scouted buddy. Patiently waiting for the sheds to hit the dirt. How many points you have mtmuley? I bet your draw odds would improve vs the area you put in for currently.

Top quality hunt with better draw odds. It could be a win-win for all involved.

I wouldn't be surprised if I put in for the area in question already. I have lots of points. Nearly max. Party hunting an LE bull isn't something that interests me. mtmuley

Max points doesn't mean I don't kill elk. Just haven't drawn a limited area in awhile. I thin out the Bitterroot bulls every year. Good luck to you also. mtmuley

I don't see what the big deal is if I was a resident I'd be all over this as it's a super fair trade. Wish I had something to offer you but don't as I am a resident of Oregon

I'd gladly give you all my points, but I don't really think I'd want to hunt with you. Those elk look like dinks. :)

Do you snare that bear with bailing twine and play checkers with the other? I used to do that with bailing twine and gophers, but not bears. I give it to you, that takes skills.

My points are yours. PM me the details and GPS location of trail cameras, etc.

You are funny guy spaz and I had to much vodka last night. Max points would not help you.

Since you insist. Those are 12 foot walls you are looking at. Those two marmots you refer to are my sons first bear next to my first bear.

Not all bears need to be over 6 foot to be trophy's.

The ?snare? you refer to above is parachord to keep him from rolling down the chute I processed him in. This is what a professionally snared bear looks like. Bit different spazo

But, yeah, I'm sure its just like ?playing checkers? with your eastern MT gophers...

Ahhh. Is that what this is about?

You one of those Disney kids that gets butt hurt when someone shoots Yogi?

Go tell your Mom she forgot your meds and troll someone else bunny huggin booger eatin lil boy.

Back to the subject. I've got one maybe and two possibles so far but no one commited yet.

Who wants to hunt elk in 2018?

Right at 15,000 people put in for the top two units in MT.
15,000 people trying to draw the same 220 tags in 2016. I will bet money it was even worse in 2017. Lots of these folks have max bonus points also :)
Can?t wait to see draw odds from 2018!

Hard to believe but I didnt make this stuff up. Pulled right from MTFWP.

I've been in both units and am here to say that other units have damn near as good of quality with way better odds. Stop wasting your draw oppurtunity every year pissing it away on the elkhorns.

Applications are due March 15 so I'm giving this a couple more days then contacting those that have emailed me and trying to build a team. Last chance or cry till 2019 :). Lets hunt...

Truth is, I'm actually you SteveE. We're all you.

I would tell the guys putting in with you that they're wasting their points on that unit, but if they're that gullible they're a lost cause anyway.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-27-18 AT 01:52PM (MST)[p]STEVE_E, are you thinking I'm posting as fred robinson? I'm not. I was only poking fun at your point sharing scheme, and the tiny bears in your pictures (ie. the backpack pic).

Good luck this fall, leave the little bears and elk alone.
