Castles

Hey folks, I posted another thread on here asking about some general non-resident questions, but I figured that would be overlooked as I have a new inquiry. I am used to hunting New Mexico, but now live in North Dakota and will plan to hunt Montana. As for the general licenses, what can you tell me about the Castle's? After searching on here I could only find threads dated back to 2011, so if anyone has any more relevant and recent information, I would appreciate it. Obviously I am not asking for honey holes, I just want to know what kind of elk are being pulled out of there, what the predator situation looks like and how much traffic they get during archery season. Thank you for your help and time!

Castles are over objective for elk.
Light archery pressure - heavy road pressure during rifle. It can get good with weather.
A good general choice to work on imo.
Look at the 798-20 tag also.

Just starting to see wolf in the area.
Lots and lots of cats like everywhere out here. I've seen more bears in the nearby belts and kings hill areas but I'm positive the castles hold a few also. I think fwp caught a young griz on camera in this area for the first time last year. They are rapidly expanding and its best to be prepared anywhere in MT if bow hunting.

It is a solid place to start. Everywhere around white sulphur is producing elk currently. A large landowner recently passed on and the son is selling the bulls and changing the dynamics in the area. As always, the elk are responding.

SteveE: thanks yet again for the information, man. You meantion a lot traffic during the rifle season, I'm assuming access isn't much of an issue?

Predators are a non factor in the Castles. An occasional wolf pack will move through, but populations are way over objective. Most elk are on private in archery and rifle. Bide your time near the boundary and you will have encounters. Small bulls likely. Occasional big bull, but would not hold out for mature animal.
