Looking at doing an Otc panhandle archery hunt in 2016! I understand information doesn't come free and will be willing to trade info. I hunt Otc units in western co. From what I've researched unit 4 looks like a descent unit if your willing to put on some miles ( which I am) any advise? Maybe I'm headed in the wrong spot alltogether

I can't help you with unit 4 specifics, but you will find a lot different terrain than you hunt in CO. All of N. Idaho is thick timber with water and forage everywhere. Lots of game, though. Hunt the clearcuts and ridges. As always, better success the further you get away from access areas. There are plenty of predators, bears wolves and cats, don't hate on the wolves, they are pretty damn cool critters! Good luck!

Idaho75 appreciate the response! I hunt the thick timber draws here in co so hopefully what I've learned can be useful knowledge for hunting the thick up in Idaho. I typically hunt about 3-5 miles from any vehicle acces. A wolf is also on my hit list but seeing one in the woods would be worth the trip alone! If you know anyone with even basic advice it would be greatly appreciated!

To hut unit 4, you will have to buy the panhandle zone tag, which means you can hunt all the units in the zone, not just unit 4. Lots and lots of country. Key in on clear cuts, you might try cruising logging roads for tracks, and hunt the back of drainages. Lots of wolves and bears. Lots of whitetails, also. I wish I could give you more specific info, but I have not hunted the panhandle. If you don't get anything in the early archery, the panhandle A tag lets you come back for muzzleloader and late archery hunts, if you have the time. Good luck. Idaho fish and game website has an interactive map center which is awesome.
