I am considering an out of state archery elk tag for this area. I was wondering your thoughts on this unit. Are there many elk in these units? If you would like PM me your thoughts I would sure appreciate it.

The elk seem to move from place to place depending on the hunting pressure, so to tell you a certain location would be useless. Try not to call to much, it doesn't take the elk long to know it's hunting season. I've learned to hunt without calling. Every bull I've harvested has had a broadhead in it, not just my own. Remember to use fixed bladed. I can't tell if these areas have many elk, but if you hunt it and stay away from the road, you'll find them.

honestly I think it one of the worst units for elk, you can find elk if you get off the road but you will also find 5 guys for every elk. it has been hit really hard. I live in that unit and I quit bow hunting a year or to ago because of all the people. the elk are scared and you have guys from direction trying to bugle them in. another problem is there is roads everywhere and even though they have banned using fourwheelers on trails it seems like everyday you run in to people hunting off there fourwheeler. its just my opinion but I think that it would be a waste of money to hunt elk in that unit. like I say you can find elk but you have to fight off the other hunters to get to them.
