wanted to bring my son on his first bear hunt. he's killed elk,hogs whitetails etc. doesn't get out of school till late may so it wold be a june hunt. which otc areas are good in idaho. will roads be ok in june in high elevations. do we need a 4 wheeler or are the roads gated off. never hunted idaho but was thinking maybe unit 1 or 4. have no idea where to go . he is excited so i would like to at least let him sees bear. thanks for any comments preston gray

Unit 39 has a lot of bears and is really good country for spot and stalk hunting. Filled my tag yesterday

Don't know how to post them. Average sized sow, fish and game says somewhere between the age of 5 and 10 years old

1 and four are both good. Been pretty warm so snow won't be an issue most areas. There are lots of logging roads. One has more bears, but 4 you can bait. Both are pretty thick. Unit four had a good chunk burn last year, so spotting will be better this year than previously.
