Unit 78 Info

LAST EDITED ON Jun-27-16 AT 03:18PM (MST)[p]Hey everyone! I was lucky enough to draw unit 78 deer rifle tag and was looking for any additional information about the area? I will be staying at a family cabin in Fish Haven but I don't have any problem going to the northern end of the unit. My friend drew this tag a few years ago so I did spend some time hunting it with him so I am somewhat familiar with the area. We didn't see a lot of deer til the last week but if I remember right it was unseasonably warm. I'm not looking for any honey holes, I plan on spending a fair amount of time scouting this summer. Just looking at info for the best way to hunt it. Thanks in advanced!

I drew a cow moose tag in this unit and I was just wondering when you hunted it before, did you see many moose?

So the family cabin I stay out is just by Fish Haven canyon and I usually see a few moose every year while we go up over the holidays. When is your moose hunt? I hope to spend some time up there scouting so I'll get back with you from what I see when your hunt gets closer.

It starts on Oct. 15th and goes through most of November. I plan to hunt the opening week and then go back on weekends if needed. I've never been in the unit, but plan to spend some time this summer scouting out different areas. I'm just wondering what part of the unit has greater concentrations over the other. Also will be looking for a place to set camp. If I see any nice bucks while scouting, I'll let you know. Thanks for the info.

Have been up there elk hunting and found a few nice 4pnt bucks yesterday. Should stay in the same area. Got some video if you would like to see if they are up to your standards.
