Looking for a hunting buddy

My wife hates when I go hunting by myself and with the recent loss of a missing hiker in the Sawtooths she really doesn't want me going alone. I worked with and knew the missing hiker very well. He was a very experienced mountaineer and backwoods man.

Having said all that hunting big mule deer is my passion. I wish I had more time and money to dedicate to it. I've been hunting them for quite a few years now and have one nice muley on my wall. I don't hunt multiple states because it's too darn expensive and time consuming.

I'm looking to meet someone with a similar passion that wants to scout and hunt back in the woods a bit. I have a couple of areas I want to scout and maybe you do too. I don't have horses or four wheelers but I have a good truck and can get back in there a ways and then start scouting from there. I'm 58 years old and I spend some time getting in shape for the hunt and know we may need to gain a couple of thousand feet of elevation to get to where the big boys are. I live in Meridian and would like to meet up with someone to talk about and plan a scouting trip or two. The area I'm talking about is in unit 39 but way back where most people don't want to go.

If this sounds interesting to you send me a PM.

Come on, don't tell me everyone on here is just a bunch of road hunters! I have friends that hunt but they don't want to work hard enough during the general season to get to where the big boys live! There must be some in the Boise area in a similar situation as me?

I wish. Im seriously thinking about relocating to the Boise area, but it wont be until next year. If I was a little closer now and could get over to scout I'd take you up on it in a second. My wife isnt crazy about me hunting by myself either.

I'd take you up but with 2 kids under the age of 2 I don't have much time to commit to scouting or hunting. I'm using up most of my passes from the wife for a 9 day archery elk hunt this year and will probably only get a couple of days for rifle deer season. Do you bowhunt as well or rifle hunt only. If you are into bow hunting I have a spot I plan on hitting for a couple of day trips during archery season

I'm not a road hunter. My brain would have me hiking back in those gnarly places, but my old broken & fat body limits me.
I have always hunted unit 39.

Chuck in Boise

I'm just a rifle hunter these days. I don't have a big enough place to be able to practice with my bow. The first few years we lived in Boise I bow hunted and loved it! I drew a 39-1 cow tag this year so I can hunt elk and deer at the same time. I have heard from a few people of some big bucks where I want to scout, now I just have to find someone to go with! Good luck on your elk hunt!

If you would like I'm always looking for hunting partners. The more the better. I live on lake hazel and five mile.

Your 'story' and mine sound quite similar..... except I almost always hunt alone.

I live in Pocatello but love unit 39, which I hunted with llamas for years.

If you're still looking, please send me a PM....who knows?

Within the shadows, go quietly.

Probably a good idea not to hunt alone. I almost died about 10 years ago on a late November hunt, alone, due to an accident. Really should have died. I live to hunt and my most enjoyable hunts have been when I have been alone. Not suggesting you have my attitude, but I will still, go hunting alone. I just don't want to live my life in fear of not doing what I want to do.
If you ever want to hunt the Middle to Eastern side of the state, let me know and send me a PM.

Gb have you ever hunted below anderson dam. I meet a guy 4 to 6 years ago, below the dam with llamas. We were camped on the river below the dam.
