I drew an antlered deer tag,the muzzleloader half of unit 45. Have not hunted it much so I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the hunt itself? any help would be great thanks.

With this being the second consecutive year of that tag it will be a little tougher but can still be a good hunt. With the 10 archery deer tags, OTC muzzy cow tags, 25(plus 25% landowner tags) archery bull tags, 100(plus 25% landowner) bull tags, 300 (plus 25% landowner) cow tags, 30 (plus 25% landowner) early muzzy deer tags just about make any scouting for this hunt almost worthless. Not saying you cant keep one pinned down but they get pushed around a lot with all these prior hunts. The 300 cow tags really have affected the hunting the most.
If you know the unit well then I would say come 5 days early and use your time to scout then. This will be the best use of any scouting time you put in. It is no longer the quality it was when they first started these rotating muzzy hunts but the potential is always there for a good buck. Good luck and share a pic with us after the hunt.

Your assessment is spot on. After my 2013 ML buck tag I decided I wasn't putting in again. Those 300 cow tags screwed me over every time I turned around.

Idaho Ron, are you telling me that it's better to have an OTC 49 buck tag then? Can't believe they'd squash 300 cow tags inside of 45-3.

No, it is still a great hunt. He is saying that the 300 cow tags start on Oct. 1 and run thru Oct 31. they are units all of 45 and 52 but they do get in the way of muzzleloading. I will be in the area you are hunting and will see you, however it is not like it used to be. We used to be able to hunt into Nov, but not since 2008 . You will see bull hunters also.

Thanks for the input dude. You'll be in the area and you'll see me? What you gonna do when you see me? How will you know it's me? Confused...
