My 15y/o son and I drew early archery elk tag for 39. Anybody out there with the early rifle deer willing to swap info about animals once the season gets going or from scouting and willing to share. Will be keeping tabs on deer when I see them. Planning on hunting labor day weekend and then will be hitting it for 10 days starting the 8th. Will be hunting mostly up towards Atlanta/Trinity area. Several of the areas I planned on hunting are closed off due to the Pioneer fire. Planning on doing some spike hunting several miles off the main roads. Thanks

Send me a PM if you really need help, you should be able to find elk fairly easy, was in there yesterday, the bulls are FIRED up!!

My Gf and my boys are hoping to see some cows up in there as well. We all drew Anterless in Area 39-1 hopefully we can find something.

Idn8tive how did your hunt go? Where you able to get away from people?

He couldn't get away from anyone hunting 39. Just wait for a drive hunters coming to you if you're posted on a hill. Old post so didn't think so...

Archery elk in 39 is not a tough hunt and you don’t need to go super back pack mode to do it, you can but it’s not going to get you much more then day hunts from camp. Some of the best bulls I see come out if this hunt aren’t real far from Idaho city. Not a lot of elk tags for archery and lots a elk

Just saw the date in the thread. Guess my advice to the op is a little late
Well I have the tag this year. That's why I was asking the op how it went. I ride dirt bikes and hunt 39 a lot and have seen elk all over but usually I'm hunting in November and riding in the spring to early summer. And have never hunted the rut in September yet, to say the least I'm super excited.
