Calling bears?

I'm going to give distress calls a try this fall for black bears... in general is September too early to try? Should I wait until later in Oct. for better odds of success?

Thanks,

I've wanted to try calling them in myself. Will probably give it a try in the next week or so. I'll share how I do. Please do the same.

I've called a couple while calling coyotes. Wayne Carlton has an older video that he calls a ton in. Any predator call should work just be loud and obnoxious. He says to sit up to an hour, and more calling the better-they loose interest when it's quiet. Always did better if he spotted the bear first.

And doubt there's any difference between sept and oct other than what hunts and pressure are in your area. Sure that any rifle hunt blazing away will make it real tough to call one in.

Never had success in fall only in spring F-ing off ( no spring season). Works great if you hear or see a bear. They come in hot! I do know people that has good success in fall, but i think an aggressive boar was near by when it worked.
