Yesterday (Sunday 9/25/2016) we were up scouting just under Thorn Creek Butte Lookout and came across some fellas on 4 wheelers they asked if we had lost a horse? they stated there was one loose and also a Mule with it with a bridle on. Told them not us. as we were coming back they actually had found that there were 4 horses and the mule. We didn't seen only but the one horse which was white from behind. if anyone knows of someone that's lost animals spread the word. I did report to sheriffs' office in Idaho City.

Horses run away all the time.

Couple years ago during elk season I caught a saddle horse and pack horse running wild down the trail. Managed to settle them down and hitch them on the side of the trail. Hour later the hunter showed up - he had tried to shoot an elk with a rifle between the horses ears! They don't take well to that :)

Anything come up? If the mule had a 'bridle' on then it should've had a saddle on to, Unless it was a 'halter and lead rope', if that's the case then ya they can pull away from loose knots or wimpy branches etc... as for the horses, there are still a ton of mustangs around but if they were domestic and didn't have halters on then I'd say someone had a cheap electric fence set up that they got thru.... with the info given doesn't seem like someone lost them on the trail or while handling them, probably just week fence. But I hope everyone was ok and got there animals back.
