Yes it was my super tag! There is no general hunt in 54 for elk ! I could had held out for a bigger bull but I wanted to take one with my bow!

General OTC archery 7x7. Broke his main beam and other points falling off cliff but I'm in the process of putting him back together.

>Yes! And your boy was there
>too!!! It just doesn't get
>any better than that!

This is my friends son, they came in to help me process and pack him out.

>Now that's what I'm talking about!!!
>Great bull!!! What's the story?
>

Saturday morning started off great, i worked my way around a mountain to look into a large canyon with no roads. I had seen several bulls work there way in that direction so i knew chances where good that i would see some animals.

It took me a while to get to my vantage point but when i arrived i was able to glass up a nice herd bull with 15 cows across the canyon. I made the decision to head in and watch in case he ended up in a spot that i could make a move on. after dropping a lot of elevation i arrived at a knob that allowed me miles of country to glass while keeping an eye on the bull and cows.

While sitting on my vantage point i was able to locate 6 different bucks and 9 different bulls, the waiting game was on it was a 4 hour sit till one of the bulls provided me with a stalkable situation.

I made my way up the canyon and over a ridge to approach the small 6x5 from above, i got to a good spot and started to glass. Nothing, he had moved while i was out of sight, i started to walk down in the draw to see which way he had moved when all of the sudden he stood up. I ranged him at 60 yards and proceeded to draw back. AT about a quarter of the way drawing back my release triggered because i had not fully clicked it in, i watched as the arrow went 30 yards and petered out in a pathetic arc. The BULL looked at me and said goodbye.

Not one to let this put me down i proceeded up the mountain to attempt a stalk on the 6 bucks i had seen earlier. I was approximately 1/2 way up the ridge when i looked back and saw a cow barreling down a draw, behind her was a 6x6 bugling and doing his best to stop and control her. I took and educated guess as to where and when they would show up and ran down the mountain to cut them off. I started up the draw in which i thought they would come out of and just as i was working up it the cow appeeard, 40 yards behind her was the bull. The cow walked 15 yards by me to my right and the bull followed her exactly, i drew back when the bull approached 20 yards and i released. I saw the arrow connect and knew it was a fatal shot. He whirled around and ran back where he came from, 30 yards later he fell to his demise in the creek bottom.

GREAT WEEKEND GREAT SEASON

Now that's what I'm talking about, Great Bull!!!

Great bulls guys!!! Congrats to both!!! Muleymemories, spine shot? If I had a 7x7 at 20yds id probably do the same thing, shaking like a leaf lol

Solo OTC Panhandle spent all of 2 hours hunting and had a 30 yard shot. So just 17 days after doing my first Ironman I got to spend the rest of the day packing him off the mountain-not that I'm compaining, but I think my joints could have used a couple more recovery days.
