If a person were to go up hunting around Riggins, what will they encounter more, mule deer or white tail???
I have never been up there and trying to get a feel for the place.

Both can be found anywhere on in my experience. It did seem like the Whitetails were a little lower on the mountain, and liked the timber more. Muleys seemed to be higher, and in the more open canyons with brush. I've hunted east of Riggins & North of Riggins. Seemed to find a few more whiteys than Mike deer.

Once again the summer passed me bye, I had planned to drive from Boise up to Orofino and explore. Maybe next summer. I also wanted to drive over to Salmon and explore. Again, next summer.
Thanks for any advice

There are whitetail along the river bottom near Riggins, but most of them are on private property. There are far more muleys in the area. There are a lot of whitetail on top of the ridge though on the road between Riggins and Grangeville that takes you by Mt. Idaho. It is east of the river and 3500-6000 ft elevation.
