I'm not looking for honey holes, but just if I'm going in the right direction considering this winter's kill, the typical hunter pressure, etc. 4 of us are going this fall for the October rifle season, some for elk, some for muleys, and we are planning on the Salmon Zone of ID.
I know that there's pretty strong wolf presence and the winter was more difficult than previous ones, but is this still an area to run into some elk, Muleys, wolf, bear, etc.? I'm looking at either the northerly/northwesterly portion of Unit 28 (E of Mt. McGuire) or southerly 36B. Anything worth knowing about? We haven't hunted this area before.
We are trying to get away from the crowds, would probably pack in 1-3 miles and spend a little over a week out. Anybody have any experience in this area?
Thanks in advance!
