Head Start on Antler Growth

Despite the bad winter, one of the bulls I saw this weekend seemed to be doing pretty well in the antler growth department. Has anyone ever seen a bull this far along so early? I know I haven't.

I think the only plausible explanation is steroids. ;-)

I watched him for about an hour. The velvet looked too clean and healthy for me to think it's carried over from last year. He has the growth of what I imagine most bulls have around mid to late July. It was quite a shock to see him like this.

Lol. Maybe. Whatever he was eating, he didn't share it with his buddies.
