I was thinking of putting in for 36a or 50 late cow elk. Any input on which might be better. Success rates normally seem pretty similar. I'm most interested in overall elk numbers, ability to locate elk in November/December, and not having much of the game inaccessible due to private land and snowed in roads.

There are hunts in November and December. I'm leaning towards November.

Thanks for the help.

Private land is definitely gonna be a problem for you in those units.

IMO, a lot of the elk are on private or have moved south into 49. If I were you I'd apply in 49. If you are willing to put in the time you should have no problems locating elk plus you might be able to get to them near a road if you do your homework.

Thanks everyone. Seems like a solid area, even with some private land challenges.

We'll see if there are any additional comments before I put that app in.
