I drew this tag! Lightning struck! Gonna get out scouting soon, but has anyone out there hunted this unit?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have never been lucky enough to hunt elk in this unit but I have hunted deer quite a few years there. I would actually stick to hunting the unit 47 portion since that seems to be where most of the elk are at in September and October. A good place to start would be House Creek. Opening day of deer season a few years ago I watched a nice 6x6 wallow in the creek for about an hour. Then I would check out the adjacent draws and ridges west of there. There is 1 particular deep canyon that basically starts at the border and heads north. A decent portion of that canyon is private but the lower end(north end) of it is public and usually has some elk in it.

Thanks man, much appreciated. This is gonna be a fun one. I'll be sure to post a review after the hunt.

Thanks to all who have PM'd me. This site is a great resource. Although it can get a little heated at times, many of the guys on this site would give you the shirt off their back.

Thanks again!

BP.
