New to idaho and was lucky enough to draw a controlled buck hunt tag, after 3 years of putting in, what is everyone using and recommending for mobile gps systems? Thanks in advance guys!!!

I have the 64s by garmin. It is a good unit but it has some draw backs.
It can not route by it's self. The software card you put in has to have that feature. I have the OnX map for mine. It can not route by its self. The 64s can't route by its self so for that it is not good.
With the Garmin 24K series maps it is a pretty good hand held but it is a bit on the big side for carrying in your pocket.
I set mine up to route with a vehicle. I had the 24K series maps in. The 24k series maps will take you and your car/truck into places that they should not be.

While the unit it's self with the OnX map set is accurate and will show you if you are on private land or public, if I were you I would pass on the 64s.

The OnX map set is worth it. It is a very good map set but don't expect it to route.

I was just out in my unit looking at the lay of the land, I am differently needing a good gps system, so 64s is out, and I want to run the onx maps, back to the drawing board tonight!

I hate to mean mouth the 64s but I think the original 60csx was a better unit.
If you don't need it for vehicle driving. All you need it for is to mark a way point and get back is works.
What problem are you having with yours?

Yes it will do that just fine. It is actually a very good hand held unit I don't want you to think that is is junk. It is not intended to be a turn by turn routing GPS. Some software will help it do that, but the screen is so small that it is really hard to see as you are driving. The Routing software for them is like anything. There are some glitches that make you say why would it want me to do that. But I have seen that with many GPS units.

>I'm assuming the 64s will also
>bread crumb and do Way
>points?

That is how I use mine now. I put the OnX maps set in it and I just use it to stay on public land.
