Anyone ever messed up an application?

Well I picked the wrong unit in applying for moose. I have hunted deer in unit 76 and have seen some nice moose. Well I decided to take a swing at applying and drew. Yep I'm the @ss that drew the first time I ever applied.

But what I realized after I drew that I should have applied for Unit 76-3 because I had never hunted deer as far north as my moose permit is for. So in some ways I just as well be hunting in the pan handle when it comes to knowing the area.

So I'm reaching out to the MM community to see if anyone is willing to share any info about the unit?

I will take any advice for sure!

Thanks in-advance!

Congrats! I drew in this area two years ago and harvested a nice bull. I can tell you where I shot mine and that there were quite a few more where we were at. We were also there just a month ago and there were so many moose tracks that I'm sure they are still in that general area in fact we seen some huge ones! Go to Henry, about a mile or two after Henry you will come to a road on the right hand side called Henry's cutoff road. Turn onto that and follow it until you come to a National forest sign, there's a nice little place to park there. On the north side of the road you will see where a farmers pasture ends and then there are aspens and a foot trail. You can take a 4 wheeler in so far but not a long way. The moose are on the hillside behind that farmers house and land that is fenced. If you take that trail down the side of his fence line and to the west they hang out all over those two hillsides back there and you can usually catch a glimpse of them out feeding and chasing each other around early in the morning. I shot mine late in the season Oct. 11 which was nice because the bulls were in the beginning stages of fighting for the ladies and were out and about. Good luck, I hope this helps, there's a really big boy in that area that I caught a glimpse of after I shot mine.

Awesome! Thank you so much for info. I will go check it out for sure. Send a picture if you have a few minutes. I would love to see your bull.

Thanks again!
