LAST EDITED ON Sep-07-17 AT 08:03AM (MST)[p]I know this is a long shot, especially being new to the thread, but I was hoping for a bit of guidance. I've lived here in Idaho since 2009 and the military is about to take me from here to a place that I will never get another opportunity to shoot an elk. I've been wanting to since I got here and the chance never presented itself. I'm not looking for anything big, I'd be happy with even a spike. Can anyone help me out with some good places to go scouting in these areas? I would be extremely grateful for anyone that could offer some advice or guidance. (Would also consider 36, 36a, 36,b)

Stevo, it's too bad you didn't get any responses, unless you had PMs. It can be hit or miss here. If you're still struggling with finding a place to look, send me a PM and I can point you in the right direction for unit 39 (Boise River Zone). I know nothing about the Weiser Zone.

might want o check with F&G & see if there are any weiser river zone tags left they put a cap on them this year I know the 1900 A tags sold out in an hour the other units I have never hunted so I am no help there

Yes, both areas were sold out before I could get my hands on them, much different culture than what I'm used to. That's for sure. I'm thinking of trying 39 now. I've camped there a few times, but haven't seen a single elk. Probably a combination of heat and not enough altitude though. Unfortunately the game will probably be completely nocturnal during the hunting week but I figure it have to at least try. Looking at steel mountain or china basin areas so far.

Thank you for the replies.
