Hey all I am going to be gone until the last week of the deer hunt and want to take the horses up and try some deer hunting. I am new to the horse side of hunting and am reaching out for help with some good trails that get away from roads and atv trails. I will be taking my wife and will be less hunting and more riding and having fun with her. Is there any one else in here that hunts 39 with horses?

I use to work with a guy who would take horses up in China basin...but that was before the couple big fires up there.

PS Make sure you hunt with some color on those horses. People can be stupid with a gun in their hand.

Just wanted to give an update. I had two days to hunt during the last week of the hunt. I had an area that I had tried during the archery hunt last year. I decided to go on a trail head. The road was horrible and took me a lot longer to get to the first morning so I was there about 45 minutes after I wanted to be. There was another horse trailer and about 5 other trucks. I saddled my new geilding that I picked up in Kansas the week before and started to ride. I was surprised that the other horse hunters stopped about 2 miles in. Some of the foot hunters were just as far back. I continued to ride and made it about 4 to 5 miles and came upon a drainage and noticed a bunch of deer on the far side. I tied my horse up and snuck down the ridge so I was within 300 yards or so from the group of deer and watched. There were deer everywhere. After an hour or so something spooked the deer and a couple bucks stopped right in my line of sight. I shot and dropped a little 4x3. It was a blast and look forward to next year.
Thanks for the couple guys that sent me messages with info

Left my phone in the car so this is all I have
