Draw

I only waited to see if my son drew a moose tag as that could affect my plans but the results werent coming so I applied today for me and my other son. The new results system sure has been different this spring. Turkey results were way late

I never wait for reasons just like this. Wyoming has crashed before, Utah too...not worth the stress.

I waited to see if a couple different buddies drew sheep, as that would significantly change my focus this fall.

But these systems should work. It's not rocket science.

I just now went to headquarters and we did a paper application. They are telling people to do a paper app and have it postmarked by midnight tonight.

And yes it is the same vendor running on-line sales as is running the draws. Low bidder!

Powder

I have a sneaking suspicion they aren't going to be able to do a second draw for deer elk and antelope this year, I'm guessing results come out late enough in July they will have to extend the purchase period for controlled hunt tags

That's bull crap, just because a bunch of people wait until the last day they shouldn't be extending the deadline, then again deadlines seem more like suggestions to IDFG these days anyway

I just stopped by headquarters. The staff was advertising that the application period is extended to midnight on Thursday.

Curious.

I agree, just like I tell my daughter who waits until 11 pm to submit her online home work due at midnight. What are you going to do if you have some technical problem???? It is all about the money. A deadline is a deadline.

Why is it "bull crap" to expect the system...any system...to work up to a posted deadline? It is IDFG's responsibility to procure a reliable system, and it is their responsibility to rectify the situation if they can't. Which it sounds like they're doing in this case.

After this debacle they should pull the vendor contract for non-performance and withhold payment.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-05-18 AT 01:22PM (MST)[p]They've had problems for years, almost for as long as I can remember most years keeping the application system up and running through the last day to apply. There has to be a way to resolve this long term...

Great recollection except the problem this year is the new vendor (not IDFG) demanded by Idaho?s Legislature wasn?t prepared for the application volume.

Brymoore you are 100% correct, that's the frustrating part to me. We were told an outside vendor would resolve these types of issues.

What's bull crap is that everybody has had the opportunity to apply anytime in the last 34 days, they already can't release results in a timely fashion anyway, how much further should they push the draw just because a lot of people procrastinate.

I am going to say the problem with system crashing all the time is there is more people putting I'm n for draws and less on otc tags and yes I agree waiting till the last min is not a good idea circumstances do arise though

LAST EDITED ON Jun-05-18 AT 09:11PM (MST)[p] I just seen on the news in Guatemala an boy 18 year old boy watched his mother get buried alive in all the ash or a mudslide, he lost his mom,his home, he lost everything but the filthy clothes he had on.
He has no one to turn to or any place to go.
Probably has no idea where or when his next clean drink of water or meal will be.
And hundreds more just like him.

Got me to thinking about how tiny my problems really are.
I was a lil pissed about this whole draw deal also.
But after seeing that lil fella on the news,
I guess it doesn't really seem to be that important to me any more.

It's just nice to see the trophy results before the main draw for everything else. So friends/family can apply accordingly.

I don't think most people procrastinate just to procrastinate. I know personally I can't wait to get my apps in early because I'm fired up.

Excellent post

Thank you

I got in on the 5th so you could say I waited until last minute, like others though I was waiting for other states results as it has an effect on what I apply for and not that I procrastinate on purpose. You would think they would know that there will be a ton of people doing this and there would be a solution to the problem. Maybe there is no way to handle that kind of traffic I don't know. If all you apply for is Idaho then I can see your frustration with people that wait until the end but not all are just lazy.

I don't just apply for Idaho but I know the odds of drawing in Idaho and if by some small chance I pull too many tags at least I'm not losing any points. At $6.25/application I can't lose

I know the draw odds as well, I wait so if I don't draw any tags I can apply easier to draw tags and up my odds if I have other tags in my pocket it's harder to draw tags I apply for so everyone has different strategy?s. I'm a non resident so it cost me around $170 bucks so if I draw a bunch of tags I won't even apply.

Struck out in Nevada on 10/25, applied in Idaho (deer/elk/antelope), Arizona (deer/sheep) and Kali (deer/elk/antelope/sheep) on 10/26.

Still won't get a tag but at least I can hope for another month, maybe 2 in Idaho.
