I have a unit 54 Archery deer tag (can hunt 55 late ) . I plan on going up on a scouting trip in the next couple of weeks . Hoping someone will help me narrow it down to some areas to look in ? Also what to expect from these two units as far as trophy quality and access . Willing to pack if I can, but it looks like its pretty roaded area either way I plan on hunting hard all day. Also if its worth trying to hunt the around the private down low ? Have helped several guys on here and be willing to trade information on Utah Colorado Nevada Wyoming .
Thanks in Advance for any help .

I am willing to trade some info with you. From what I know you would be better off getting it done on the 54 early. Get a map and find the wooden shoe area and focus your attention there and you will find some good bucks.
IMO 55 late kind of sucks for an archery hunt. You may see a few decent bucks but getting in bow range is a totally different story.
My son and I have a boat load of points and Utah and would like to hunt there sooner than later.

If you have the unit 54 archery tag, you cannot hunt 55 late, controlled hunt tags are only valid for the controlled hunt season

I didnt know that . I haven't really looked that far into it so thank you now I know I have to concentrate on early 54. I guess I might as well ask can I buy an OTC rifle deer also or am I only available to use the Draw tag ?

As long as there are non-resident tags left over after August 1st, which there always are, you can buy a general tag at the non-resident price in addition to your controlled hunt tag. That would allow you to hunt your controlled hunt as well as any open general hunts in the state including 55 late archery.

54 is a fun unit to archery hunt. No need to hunt private down low. Go high and glass, glass. Take a quad to get around easy. Good luck.
