Years ago we use to hunt Zone 78 but it is now closed for rifle season. We are going to try Zone 76 and 77 this year. Any suggestions on places to go? These are new areas for us. MAny thanks in advance.

Agree. I've hunted it twice in recent years. Not many animals left after that bad winter several years ago. Nice country though filled with ATV's and side by sides.

I hunted southeast Idaho up through 2013. Great scenery, phenomenal genetics for mule deer, and some awesome memories, but it just got too crowded for me personally. I can't I imagine what the herd is like after the harsh winter two years ago. Hopefully it will come back. With all that said if you are set on going then I'm sure you will have a great time, it's always fun being in the mountains.

It will give you an opportunity to go hunting but don't expect anything better than unit 78 was from 2000-2008. Overall units 76 and 77 require more vertical changes in elevation than 78 and 75 to get away from roads and 4 wheelers.
