Tell me where you see bears in 32 & 32A ;-)

Due to work conflicts, we can't make it up to hunt for my wife's bear until mid-October, but we'll do our part to get a boar out of there for you when we do.

PS. Is it worth buying a wolf tag too?

I've actually heard they are having quite a few problems with wolves killing cattle up in unit 32 right now so yea I would guess it would be worth grabbing a wolf tag. If nothing else it gives you something to do come December

I drew the tag last year and waited until October to hunt. I only saw two bears off Dry buck above private late one evening and didn't have time to go for either. I think they tree up this time of year and become somewhat difficult to find. I started hiking trees and found tracks but never came across a bear. Don't rely on just your glass. You may have to put some miles on your boots through the timber. Good luck!

I have seen quite a few bears around the West Mountain Trailhead in 32A. It is around the headwaters of Squaw Creek. Definitely buy a wolf tag. Go get em!

They will be mostly timbered up eating dropping pine cones, was my experience over there this late after berries are stripped.

It sounds like it'll be harder than I expected. That's alright, we'll see what we can do.

Thanks everybody for the updates and tips.

The Dry Buck area has too many bears. Get away from the roads. They get a lot of pressure from hounds.
A hike into Mud Lake (pond/marsh) would likely be worth the effort. I have seen numerous bruins there.
Over the past few years I have had trail cams in the Dry Buck / High Valley area. It is a rare occasion when a cam doesn't have a few pics of bears on it.
I wish they would open the area up for general hunting as the bear population needs to be thinned a bit. JMHO.
The area does have wolves, however they are a bit "cagier" than I! Two years ago I saw three wolves between the Gabes Bathtub trail and the Antelope Creek trail while bow hunting above the old cattle trail but didn't get a shot at any of them. Saw another one just west of High Valley while hunting last year. I have only had one on a trail cam. That was just below Mud Lake.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the great input guys. We hunted the Cottonwood Canyon burn and the Mill Creek area above it with no luck. The next day we spent around Mill Creek Summit and only found deer, grouse, and lazy @ss hunters driving down closed roads that we had spent hours hiking down. It was not a great experience.

We decided we needed to get as far from the crowds as possible so hiked the Antelope Trail to Renwyck Creek and found tons of deer/elk sign but no bears. We then went back to the Mill Creek Summit area and found three bulls (two 6x6's) and some cows but again, no bears.

We had to come back to work and so my dog could have her ACL repaired but are going back up the last week of October.

I have seen here (and heard from other hunters in the field) that we need to try Dry Buck Mountain. It looks like you get there by going to Ola and then up to the summit and through High Valley. Is this correct? We have a camper trailer that we pull, is that a problem on that road?

If I'm missing something here, please let me know. I've never been to that area and its always a little tricky going to a new spot with a trailer and not knowing what the road is like. Thanks again.

If you have a smaller trailer and take it slow you will be okay. Folks take trailers into Dry Buck alot. I usually go in at Sweet if I am hunting there and not hunting the High Valley area. Turn right on Fitzpatrick road. You will run into Dry Buck/Brownlee road. Stay on Dry Buck. Not sure where you are coming out of but if you are coming south down 55 you can turn onto Brownlee rd in Gardenia and take it up the grade to where it merges with Dry Buck.

Grizz, I screwed up and gave you bogus directions! The road out of sweet is Kirkpatrick not Fitzpatrick. Hope I didn't waste your time.
