Deer have bailed early, both of the last 2 years. In '17, they left on 13th of Oct where I was, to my horror!
Not as much is 39, as they don't leave the unit, just move.
Anyone who talks about the old days when deer stayed high until Thanksgiving, or until their bellies touched the snow, is living in a bygone era.

Headed up tomorrow. Looks like there will be snow flurries and probably some snow on the Trinitys and Iron Mountain. We were there this time last year and got blasted off the mountain by a blizzard but it was 60 and sunny the next day. Weather up there this time of year is a real wildcard.

They bail early in that unit, in my experience. I think they drop to mid elevations, 5k-7k around Featherville. Sometimes harder to find as that is thicker timber in the area.
