Anyone willing to share some information on this unit? My 13 year old daughter drew this tag and we are very excited to be going! We are non residents and haven't been in the unit. Any info regarding the elk or good camp spots or anything would be appreciated. Her hunt is Nov. 10-30. Thanks

I have the 46-2 cow tag in December but I know the unit fairly well because I coyote hunt it quite a bit. There should be a good amount of elk in it but it is always weather dependent. If we get some good cold snaps with snow chances are really good of finding a nice big bull. Not sure what your daughters expectations are but there are some massive bulls in the area. As for camping spots I guess that depends on what you plan on camping in. You can park a trailer almost anywhere but if that's not your style you could always camp around Roseworth Reservoir and maybe get some fishing done there also. Places to start looking would be west of there out in the sage brush flats all the way to Jarbidge River. If you need anymore insight let me know, plus I can show you some pics of what to expect in the way of bulls. Not sure how to add pics on here or I would do that.

Thank you for the information. I will look into that reservoir. I would definitely love to see some pics! Ill send you a PM with my phone number. If that works for you, then you can text them to me. Do you know if that area got any snow or the area the elk migrate from? Thanks again! It's pretty amazing to be able to come on here and get some good information and quick from guys willing to help someone out. It is very much appreciated!

Yeah go ahead and shoot me a PM and I will send you some pics. I don't think that it has snowed up there yet and if it has it's very little. There are usually some elk in the unit by this time already but the weather will definitely help.

I was up there, just leaving, and didn't see an elk. It did put down an inch of snow, though. I drew that tag, and so did my dad and brother. I'll be back up there next weekend and I'll be staying for 2 weeks. Pm me

After getting skunked our first trip, we made a quick second trip. We met some great people who gave us some good information on where to look and find elk. Thank you to all who offered information or luck! My daughter shot this bull late on the last night we had to hunt. We went back in the morning to look for him not knowing how good he was hit. Took us longer than we thought to get to that spot and the crows had found him first. Yes, that is crow poop on the antlers. This was the only elk my daughter seen during her hunt and we couldn't be more excited and pleased with the outcome! He is not a high scorer but we don't care. He is 48? wide and I can't think of an elk I've ever seen that was older. His teeth were at gum line and his ivory?s were just slivers. Thanks again to everyone. One of my very favorite hunts ever!

Hello! Just reading through these post as I drew the 46-2 late elk tag this year. Was wondering if you would mind talking elk... 208.866.9604
