just wondering, anybody's opinion on the area i heard the mule deer tags were over the counter, is that true and is it worth a drive from medford Or. Thankx Manny

Yes Washington deer tags are OTC. That would have to be at least a 10 hour drive. If you just want to see some new country you should do it, but the mule deer numbers are really very low in that area.

Many areas in Washington have more mule deer than the northeast corner, which is where you are talking about. You asked for opinions, that's mine. You might want to talk to a biologist if you really want to know if it's "worth the drive." Mule deer used to be pretty good there, but that was about 15 years ago. It's just at tough area to hunt. Thick and steep. Very little open country where you can glass. Some local hunters do kill some good bucks out of there but more often they don't kill anything.

elk,WA ?? for muleys? grew up here no muleys in the area, if you head north to the higher elevation there are some muleys.Your best bet in this corner is the high country of ferry and okanogan

Exactly what Shane said. My very best friend in the whole world grew up in Elk, WA. I have hunted it for the last 15 years. NO MULIES! Thats a fact. Now, if you want to kill a "PIG OF A WHITETAIL" that's a different story. Hey Shane, PM me. You might know my friend.

If you want to hunt muleys, go to Chelan Co. and hunt the Entiat Valley, north of Wenatchee Wa. Any drainage holds deer.

You can hunt almost any unit during the general season (mid october) with an OTC tag, entiat included. Generally you put in to draw the late season 'rut' hunts in the same units you can hunt earlier otc. This is just some general info.

Try between wenatchee and Leavenworth in any of the canyons east of hwy 2. Plenty of 15"-18" three points with an occasional nice 4 point during general

Not true.....

The entiat valley holds VERY few resident deer though it is an amazing winter range. Many of the bucks don't move into the valley until middle of november. Some before, some after.... But in October its VERY slim pickings. If you hunt it during the general rifle season you'll hear a few shots each day but be prepared for the pumpkin patch! That rifle season was the reason I started archery hunting. If you get up high you can do decent but downlow its gonna be 99% luck involved with killing a buck.
