Washington State Proposal

I wanted to post this in the General section but I keep getting a "gateway timeout".

In the wake of all the Zumbo doings it came to light for me that Washington has no law protecting our right to hunt. Some States like PA are in the process of enacting such legislation. Are there any here that would support this? I have avenues to pursue this if there is interest.

"In the wake of all the Zumbo doings it came to light for me that Washington has no law protecting our right to hunt."

This is correct. Having had a rather unpleasant conversation with a member of our game dept., at the sportsman show a couple years ago, about some native americans shooting elk in the Loo-Wit unit and leaving them to rot, he told me it is "their right" and "our privilage" to hunt in this state..............rf

This is a funny subject................

Even if they pass a law saying I can't hunt anymore I wont stop, Even if jail time is part of my Washington hunting experience every year.

The most likely target for the Anti hunting lobby is bow hunting as it is not second amendment protected. I think at some point they will pass a law against archery tackle here in Washington as PETA hates us more than anybody. AND GUESS WHAT I WON'T STOP BOW HUNTING EITHER:)

The reality is that less and less people hunt every year in Washington and at some point Ron Sims and his buddies will try to do us in with a Anti bear baiting style hunting ban and it will pass no matter what we do.

The funny thing is that I bet no one here would actually stop hunting either.

Good luck with any attempt to change the state constitution the greenies in Seattle won't have it and we don't have the numbers to defeat them.

Times two for me also. I agree it is an uphill battle, but I think it would be in our best interest to begin a push. Lets do it!!!

I'm in!
Yes, it is going to be tough to get done in this state. The number of liberal, peta loving hippies is dramtically on the increase as we have more and more folks moving here from the big cities of CA and NV.
Eric

Ultra liberal, wolf loving, illiterate, gay, hippie midgets on crack piss me off!!!!

Of course.....I'm in!! Each one of us, I'm sure has a lot of huntin' partners that would be in as well. Let's spread the word!

Good deal, I will speak with the WWRC (Wa. Wildlife and Rec Coalition) about getting something started. I'd encourage any of you to join the WWRC, it's a great way to have your voice heard on State fish and wildlife initiatives. They work closely with the State Fish and Wildlife Commission and have a large fund that can be used for public land purchases, etc..

Count me in as well, and thanks for taking the initiative.

There are only two types of people - The Hunters and the hunted,
I hunt.

I made contact with the State today. I have a slot for a submittal for the next legislative session, so any pro's you guys can think of (benefit to the State) to do this, please forward.

I'm in and am sure I could find many guys at work and friends whom would sign a petition or something like that. Also for benefits to the state:
1. Recreation for citizens (works for stadiums right?)
2. Revenue and financial support for state wildlife
3. Reduces number of deaths/injuries caused by vehicle animal accidents. Reduces cost impact of same to persons and property.
4. Reduces cost of state paying farmers/orchardists for lost crops
5. Establishes a legal right to a long standing tradition and way of life for many people.
6. Encourages citizens to be more involved in state biological and ecological concerns.

Ok some sound quite a bit like BS, how about cause I want to hunt!!!

I just turned 18 so I'm legal now... let me know what I have to do...

Michael.....if we have to still tell you what to do at 18, your in trouble bud! :)

The critical thing will be guys like us putting heat on our State representatives once it goes to committee for an initial vote. I'll update once something get's submitted. This was proposed in 2001 and died in committee before any vote -usually happens due to lack of outside support, we need to voice it! Now is not too early to start bugging them. Notes to the F&W commission would help too.

Any updates D-man?
