Washington Gov. Tag

I am pretty sure he is eating $14,500 tag soup. He was still hunting the last weekend anyways.

A lot of those Gov Tag guys don't share much. When you spend over $15,000 for a tag, you don't really want to do anyting to create even more hyp. and push the price even higher. He spend a lot of time in the Entiat and still had his tag pretty late into December.

$14,500.00 for tag soup? That could have been one hell of good time hunting Sonora and still had plenty left to hunt Wyoming or Montana, or B.C. or....................rf

The money is not relevant to these hunters, so completely take it out of the equation. For the regular person it is truely unatainable, but they can easily afford it and think nothing of the dollar amount. I am for one envious of their finacial situation to be able to afford a tag like that. I am glad to see them eat their tag instead of shooting a smaller deer. More permit special draw hunters should do that. Gives me a lot more respect for them as trophy hunters then many of the claimed trophy/big buck (actually dink) shooters.

He passed on some real dandies. Never could find that buck he wanted to tag. I agree, I have a lot of respect for someone who can pass on hundreds of really nice bucks as he did. Indeed a true trophy hunter and a real nice guy as well.

He didnt tag out. He was looking for a 200 inch deer. When we talked with his hunting buddy, the biggest they had saw was 185. And taht was within the last couple days of hunting. I guess a nice one was spotted by some of his guys, but just not enough time in the day for him to get to it, since it was in another area. Apparently they had a monster whitey for him up north but he wanted a muley.

Garrett, will you be at the Puyallup sportsmans show and if so, will you have any mounts of your recent bucks? You may not have gotten the mount of your buck from last year yet I imagine.

Actually i may be going, i have actually never been to that one, but i have some things i have to do in seattle that weekend,so i think i am going to pop down there Sat. I am not sure, i am nervous to take my mounts to shows, not because i dont want people to see them but i have seen a couple get broken and not treated with the care i would assume should be taken. so i am nervous haha. my swakane late tag buck is mounted and back, but the one i got this last hunting season on opening day, is not done, and wont be until oct. I would like to show off my Late Swakane tag buck, cause he is really impressive in person, the horns, and the quality of the mount is really amazing. but just a little scared. But i am still deciding. How about you??

Understand totally, some do get knocked around pretty good. When Milo Hanson had his record whitetail there a couple years ago, he didn't let it out of his sight, don't blame him. The wife and I will be there Saturday. Be good to meet you and some of the other guys that will be there.

I took my buddys horns last year to get them scored and i was freaking out and they weren't even mine, nor were they even mounted(euro mount),and it was a 160". he was stuck at work so i told him i'd take them. if i had a nice mount, i would probably be very afraid to leave it somewhere too, but i would sure like to see it as well. about a week later i got them returned to him and a few days after that his dog chewed up the better part of the skull. OOPS.

I took a big elk shed in to be measured last year at the Yakima show with my moose, and the boone guy dropped it and took an inch off of one of the points. I really wasn't mad at the guy because accidents do happen, but it sure stunk. Now my antler has a chipped point that is stark white compared to t he rest. I guess I need to go rub a tree or two.

Garrett, I have taken some of my elk there in years past and have had no problems. I think it is nice to share as most guys really enjoy seeing the sucess of other hunters hard work. I am going to take my Chelan buck from last year to have it scored and see if it matches up with what I came up with just for fun. It is kinda nice to see because it is such a "heavy" antlered buck and you don't see that all too often.... I will be there all day Saturday as well.
